Before I forget!

Oooh I just realized that I haven't blogged abt the Michael Cino and Guess shows!

I started my PFW w Michael Cinco and Guess. I was lucky enough to sit second row for the biggest show of the season thanks to the gracious Mendoza ladies and their very generous friends.

My outfit had a tiny train lol which was quite challenging cause I kept on getting stepped on by Laureen Uy wannabes. Anywho...

Michael Cinco is on a whole other level. He reshowed the pieces from the Red Cross Ball. John Spainhour opened in his tiny white speedo with a metal crotch (yum yum yum, more of that to come). Every singe piece that MC sent down the runway was a work of art. The first segment, the white segment, was full of "scales" on silk illusion with exposed zippers. MC exaggerated the female silhouettes on the hips and the shoulders. There was a loth of feathering done and a lot of bustiers used (lol I'm just summarizing what I wrote down, y'all should see my planner). He used a lot of hardware and metallics. And one thing that needs to be mentioned is the abundance of hot men and their abs in tiny white speedos with metal crotches. You don't have to be a UP Summa Cum Laude (hi Anna Canlas!) To figure out which part of the show was my favorite. In the latter part of the show, he showcased the different colors of the Philippine sunsent ranging from Canary yellow, to tangerine to a fiery red. Some of his pieces were reminiscent of some of Elie Saab's work. He ended the show w the multi tiered insanely beaded wedding gown (he didn't show the 2 others from the Red Cross Ball) and the 500,000PhP dress on the very beautiful Anne Curtis. I've never seen a woman who has a better complexion than her. And gorgeous hair.

Speaking of hair, L'Oreal Paris was gracious enough to give VIP guests (like yours truly) 2 big bottles of the Repair 5 shampoo and a big bottle of the Repair 5 conditioner. Over time you will find out that I'm not one to car abt my hair's condition (only style). So I gave my freebies away to my mom and my sister who have better hair now because of it. Thanks L'Oreal! I'm worth it!

My next show for tonight was Guess. Imagine my surprise when I saw only one row of seats. I sat behind my friends from Style Bible who were lovely enough to entertain my comments on the show (needy lol). The set design was very reminiscent of the Alexander McQueen SS12 show. Guess pulled a lot of 50s influences: the bouffant hair, the pin-up styling. It was very American sportswear. As in pang sports hahahahah. They also pulled from the 60s (Brigitte Bardot hair and look), and the 70s (wide legged pants) For the boys, to me it seemed like a modernized West Side Story with the rolled up sleeves, the slicked back hair and the Converse shoes. They also showed a lot of denim jackets for the boys. They featured a lot of celebrities in the show. Celebs like Jon Hall, Bubbles Paraiso, Paolo Paraiso and Jay R. Maxene Magalona closed the show in a black body con with a sheer back. After the show , Guess opened it's runway to the guests for an after party. Guests were able to mingle with the models and some of Manila's media elite. I didn't stay for the after party. Mingling with the masses isn't really my thing and the drinks were too strong to stomach. I would've stayed for the models, but models don't really pay attention to me. Or maybe they don't see me cause I'm so small lol.
Anywhoo. That's it for this post. Photo vomit for next week.
Kiss kiss!

Before I start sleeping in the car...

Hi guys!!! How's everyone? Philippine Fashion Week is finally FINISHED. Everyone can breathe a sigh of relief and start eating again!!! (I had a milkshake right after my first show today)

Today I decided to go for a simple look, a worn brown leather jacket, a fit white vneck and black pants. Plus accessories. Surprisingly, simplicity is in bec today I got photographed twice for Preview.

My first show was RTW. There were around a dozen designers like Joyce Pilarsky, and Louis Claparols among others. My friend Louis' collection was very whimsical, very encantada which I LOVED. All the sheer mixed with the eye catching colors of the swimsuits and shoes was gorgeous.

The other designers showcased more loungewear and more sheer and more swimsuits. I'm gonna be seeing a lot of barely clothed ladies within the coming months.

My sister-slash-assistant went w me to the shows. We were picking out outfits for her to wear to this yacht trip she's gonna go on w her work friends. It's very exciting.

Next up was the Jerome Salaya-Ang group shows (yes I missed Grand Allure, you know me I don't really like lining up). The quality of the work displayed by the designers in this group is unparalleled. I really look forward to seeing their shows every season. Jerome took his collection in a different direction fr last season's Voldemort nose nude image. He showed more architecture, more sequins (!!!) and more sleek gowns. Sassa was kind of a hit and miss. If Jenny Humphrey made a full collection of clothes, it would look something like that. But the candy pinks and the polka dots were sweet. Noel Crisostomo had gorgeous loungewear in black, white and yellow. He had a few menswear pieces, but my favorite would have to be the yellow racerback vest. I don't really remember much from it. I missed ESAC to meet my friends for the Men's wear show (last show of the season). But I definitely did not miss the opening hot guy in a tiny red speedo.

The men's collection was very interesting. I had no idea menswear could be done in such creative ways. Of course there were a lot of abs and pecs and yumminess all around. The show started quite late, but it was definitely worth the wait! I have amazing pics of John Spainhour (or accdg to my friends Wolf man) and the forever handsome Luke Jickain strutting their stuff on the runway in different states of undress (!!!).
Now that Philippine Fashion Week is over, I can resume being the fat kid I really am and eat all the cake that I can. So y'all are just gonna have to deal.
Pics are coming soon.

Kiss kiss!

Another update from the back of a cab

So today was quite a long day. A long HOT HOT HOT day. And I chose to wear leather (but as a vest so don't worry too much).

Taking the train to MOA was quite a fun experience. You get to see different types of people. They all looked the same to me but I know they have different stories.

First show of the day was Ipanema. I'm not a slippers kind of girl but I do appreciate good footwear. And Ipanema surprisingly had good slipper designs. And the designers that showed were amazing in showcasing different types of swimwear and loungewear. I've seen so much sheer (as in one layer tulle or one layer silk illusion) over the past few days that I see everything in tulle now. Everything is possible with a sheer fabric. Even clothing items that I didn't know thay couldn't be made sheer is currently available in sheer. There were also a couple of designers (Lyle IbaƱez and Raoul something) whose color palettes were very refreshing. Very Aegean sea. Which I love.

Second show was supposedly Penshoppe but my front row seat was given away due to the fact that I decided to follow logic and wait the lines out. NOTE: if international superstars such as Mario Maurer (whom I have the biggest crush on) and Utt Panichkul (whom I have a bigger crush on if that's even possible) are walking in your show, grab the first opportunity to take a seat because there are numerous people willing enough to take your seat. Oh well I learned my lesson. More than half of people who were promised seats were shut out of the show due to seating problems. Penshoppe graciously showed their show on a jumbotron outside of the hall so people see got to see what was going on inside. There were numerous (and very much audible) boos coming from people stuck outside. But when Mario Maurer stepped on to the runway I swear I thought I heard prepubescent girls having their first orgasms ha ha.
I didn't finish the show, I had to run to line up for the Slims at 50 show where my 2 favorite bloggers Ingrid Go (TheBagHag) and Bryan Grey-Yambao (Bryanboy; who I'm very surprised is home! Welcome back sweetie!) apparently were. I almost didn't go to the show because of the 10lbs worth of necklaces I was wearing but hallelujah Jesus that I did because the collections that were showed honestly brought tears to my eyes. That level of artistry and skill brought together in one beautiful package is one of the reasons why I got into fashion in the first place. Special shout out to cutie pie Martin Bautista who showed such a great collection (I still want that all gold number Marts! Yuck feeling close ha ha).

After that I had to run to Il Ponticello in Makati for the company halloween party. On the way, I had a very interesting conversation with the gracious taxi driver who took me there. We talked about how taxi drivers' minds worked. He even taught me a technique on getting cabs easier. Which actually made sense to me.
The party at Ponti was wild. It was so packed that I couldn't breathe. I saw a lot of very cute young men in adorable costumes. I saw a Warbler, a hot European construction worker and a hot Captain America.
Since Ponti was too full to live, some of my office mates and I decided to move to another place to sit and bond. We decided on City Golf which was surprisingly quiet. Then again it IS 3 in the morning. We bonded over Persian food and stories of our drunken misadventures. I regret only having talked to them now that I've left the company. They are actually very fun people.

Enough about me, what about you guys! Tell me about how you spent this Halloween weekend. I'd love to hear about it. Email me at jjorbeta@gmail.com. Or Tweet me @J_Orb.

Tomorrow is my friend Louis Claparols' show which I'm very excited for. He gave me a sneak preview over BBM over the course of this evening. Quite sad that I won't be able to wear him tomorrow. But whatevs there will be other events.

That's it for me.

Kiss kiss!

Don't feel like I'm leaving you in the dark

To my non-existent readers, do not fret! I'll be uploading pictures and videos after Fashion Week is over. Hopefully it will be a productive holiday for all of us.

Currently I'm in the back of a cab with my friend Monique on our way home from a long day of shows.

I started my day with the Cybershot Luxewear show, which, unfortunately, I didn't get to finish because I needed to run to Lee. Note to my lovely readers, always have a small source of light handy when going out in the middle of a dark show. I had to learn the hard way when I tripped multiple times on my way out. Thank God it was dark and nobody saw. But I did hear a couple of gasps and a nice gentleman graciously pulled me up from my humiliation.

After power Karlie-ing my way to the MOA Atrium, I lined up for the Lee show, silently cursing "fashionistas" holding the line. By a stroke of luck, my friend Mara was already sitting front row with a seat saved pour moi. The Lee show was great in showing trends from all over the world and different ways on wearing denim. It was quite interesting. And the very hot boys helped a lot in getting my attention.

Oxygen came after the Lee show (well more like going simultaneously with). So after power walking back to SMX, I was disappointed to find out that the show was already finished. Once again, I Karlie-d my way back to the mall to meet up with a friend for dinner. NOTE: World Chicken has good food for those on a budget.

Deciding that our night wasn't over, Mon and I headed over to GreenBelt to meet our friends Chinx (whom I haven't seen in FOREVER) and Enzo who is a stylist at Lee and graciously lent me something to wear for tonight (pics of that to follow).

Overall it was a good day. Now I'm really tired and can't wait to make love to my bed.

Til tomorrow my loves.

Kiss kiss.

Blair's Gold Balmain Moment

I am seriously in love with this jacket. Everyone needs to have a gold moment, I believe. And I read somewhere that this is being sold for half the price at $1800. So if you have enough dinero to have this gold moment, I suggest you not wait a minute longer and charge that bitch.

Kiss kiss.
